ニュージーランドの姉妹校から留学生が来ました。

Exchange students have come from sister school in New Zealand.

1月26日

1時間目は高校1年の国語の授業に参加しました。妖怪の話を英語と日本語を交え、本校の生徒にも留学生にも興味深い授業となりました。

 

(Japanese Class/ the 1^st period)

This is senior high 1^st grade Japanese class.

Students learned about Japanese “Yokai”.

Students from NZ seemed to be interested in it.

And Japanese students enjoyed the class as well.

中学１年の数学の授業に参加しました。折り紙を使って、規則性を見つけ、数列にする課題にグループで取組みました。知っている単語をならべながら、懸命にコミュニケーションを図り、楽しい授業となりました。

 

(Math Class/ the 2^nd period)

This is junior high 1^st grade math class.

Students worked on math questions using origami.

Students used to English to communicate with each other.

最終日の４時間目にフェアウェルセレモニーが開催されました。校長先生から留学の修了証書が渡され、本校生徒からのダンスや空手の出し物がありました。留学生からも、お礼の歌とダンスを披露してもらいました。お互いに、別れを惜しみ、涙を浮かべる姿もありました。

 

(Farewell Ceremony/ the 4^th period)

We had a farewell ceremony.

Jissen students performed cheerleading and did karate and Marlborough students sang a song and showed a dance.

Some students were crying at the ceremony.

We said goodbye to each other.

 

1月25日

中学１年の体育の授業に参加しました。中学１年は空手を週１時間学習しているので、一緒に体を動かしました。

 (P.E Class/ the 2^nd period)

This is junior high 1^st grade P.E class.

Students are doing Karate.

 

中学３年の体育の授業は卓球でした。卓球はニュージーランドでも比較的ポピュラーで、家庭に卓球台のある家もあったりします。

 

(P.E Class/ the 3^rd period)

This is junior high 3^rd grade P.E class.

Students are playing table tennis with 3^rd grade students.

Table tennis is popular in NZ and some people have a ping pong table at home.

 

中学３年の音楽の授業に参加しました。リコーダーの授業でしたが、留学生にはあまり馴染みが無かったようで、苦戦しつつも楽しそうに参加していました。

 

(Music Class/ the 4^th period)

This is junior high 3^rd grade music class.

Students are playing the recorder.

Recorders are not so familiar to the students from NZ but they seems to have enjoyed the class.

中高一貫の高校２年の英語の授業に参加しました。ニュージーランドからの引率教員の先生に授業をしてもらう貴重な機会になりました。

 (English Class/ the 5^th period)

The teacher from NZ taught a class to senior high 2^nd grade at this period.

Students enjoyed playing some games.

 

1月24日

中学2年のクラスの生徒と豚汁とおにぎりを作りました。昨日の巻き寿司とは違った日本食を楽しんでもらえたようです。

 (Cooking Class/ the 3^rd and the 4^th period)

This is cooking class.

The exchange students made Ton-Jiru, miso soup with pork and vegetables, with our junior high 2^nd grade students.

They enjoyed cooking and eating Japanese food.

5時間目を利用して、氷川神社に参拝に行きました。手水舎でお清めの作法など、日本の文化に触れる貴重なひと時となりました。

 (Visiting Hikawa Shrine/ the 5^th period)

We visited Hikawa Shrine.

The exchange students learned the proper manners in visiting shrines.

For example, how to behave at chōzuya was one of them.

6時間目の理科では、ニュージランドと日本それぞれの国の環境問題について、グループごとに話し合いました。中学1年のクラスではiPadを活用しながらコミュニケーションをとりました。最後に話し合った事を発表し、有意義な時間を過ごしました。

 (Science class/ the 6^th period)

This is junior high 1^st grade science class.

Students discussed the environmental problems that we have in Japan and in NZ.

Students used iPad to communicate with each other.

At the end of the class, students made a presentation about what they learned in the class.

We hope that students had a great time.

 

1月23日

1時間目の理科は、静電気を使った実験です。電気を人や飲み物に溜めて実験をしました。電気の溜まった飲み物は、刺激的だったようです。

 (Science Class/ the 1^st period)

This is a science class.

We did an experiment about the static electricity.

We put the static electricity into ourselves and some drinks.

Students tasted the “sparking” drink during the class.

2時間目はリベラルアーツの高校2年のクラスで国語の授業を受けました。ニュージーランドから引率されている先生が演劇を教えているので、英語でジェスチャーゲームを行いました。

 (Japanese Class/ the 2^nd period)

This is a Japanese class.

We did a gesture game.

3・4時間目は、2時間目に続きリベラルアーツの高校2年のクラスの生徒と一緒に調理実習を行ないました。巻き寿司をつくりましたが、味も見た目もばっちりでした。

 (Cooking Class/ the 3^rd and the 4^th period)

This is a cooking class.

We made Maki-Zushi.

It looked great and tasted terrific.

国語の授業では百人一首を使い坊主めくりをしました。高校1年生のクラスらしく、採った札で単語を作り、英語で単語の意味を説明する取り組みも行いました。

(Japanese Class/ the 6^th period)

This is a Japanese class.

We played a game called “Bo-zu Mekuri” using Hyakunin Isshu, a traditional Japanese card game.

In addition to just playing the game, we put an additional rule in which we made an English word and then let our students explain it in English.

放課後に茶道部に体験入部をしました。本校の生徒に手ほどきを受け、苦戦しつつも楽しいひと時を過ごすことが出来ました。

 (Tea Ceremony/ after school)

We had a tea ceremony after school.

Exchange students had learned the proper manners of it.

They seemed to enjoy the tea ceremony although they seemed to be struggling with it.

 

1月21日

中学2年の英文法の授業です。英語で本校の生徒が自己紹介をしてから、日本についての色々な事を紹介するグループワークを行いました。

 (English grammar/ the 4^th period)

This is junior high 2^nd grade English grammar class. Students introduced themselves first, and they did some group work about Japanese things.

中学3年の理科の実験です。静電気を利用して、空飛ぶクラゲを作成しました。

(Science/ the 5^th period)

This is junior high 3^rd grade scientific experiments class. By making use of static electricity, students made flying jellyfish.

中学2年の数学の授業です。ポリドロンを使った課題に取組みました。数学の専門用語は説明するのが難しく、悪戦苦闘しながらもコミュニケーションをとっていました。

(Math/ the 6^th period)

This is junior high 2^nd grade math class. Students worked on some tasks invading  polydrons. It was really hard for students to explain math terminologies, but they never gave up trying to communicate with other students.

 

1月19日

中学2年の社会のクラスです。日本文化をiPadなどのツールを使い紹介するとともに、お箸の使い方を体験しながら学びました。

 (Social studies/ the 1^st period)

This is the junior high 2^nd grade social studies class. During the class, teachers used iPad and other tools to introduce the Japanese class. Also, students learned how to use chopsticks.

 昨日に引き続き高校1年のクラスです。今日は日本史です。2時間目と同じように、iPadなどのツールを使い日本の歴史を紹介しました。前回の数学同様に、この授業でも先生は英語で課題を提示しています。

(Japanese history/ the 2^nd period)

This is high school 1^st grade class. The subject is Japanese history. Students learned Japanese history by watching a Power Point. The same as the last math class, teachers gave materials in English to students in English as well.

 

1月18日

ウェルカムセレモニーです。英語科の先生の助けを借りながら、生徒が英語で司会進行やスピーチを行ないました。校長先生のスピーチも英語でした。

(Welcome Ceremony) 

Jissen students and the principal made a welcome speech in English.

 ホームルームクラスで、学校での過ごし方の説明を受けました。お迎えするための飾りつけは、来年度ニュージーランドに行く中学2年生が中心となって頑張りました。

(In the Classroom) 

Students from Marlborough Boys and Girls College are told how to spend their school life at Jissen Gakuen.  The 2^nd graders of Jissen Junior High School decorated the classroom for them.

スクールツアーです。学校の施設を見学して回りました。写真は屋上にある実践の森です。

(School Tour)

They are in the forest of Jissen Gakuen which is located on the rooftop of the school.

3時間目は高校1年の英会話の授業です。昨年度、ニュージーランドへの語学研修を全員が済ませているので、打ち解けるのも早く活気のある授業になりました。

(English Conversation Class/ the 3^rd period)

The NZ students had an English Conversation Class with the 1^st graders of Jissen Senior High School.  Last year they went to New Zealand.  It was a very active class.

5時間目も3時間目と同じクラスに行きました。数学の授業ですが、先生も英語で頑張りました。生徒も専門的な英語に苦戦しつつも英語で頑張りました。

(Math Class/ the 5^th period)

The math teacher taught math to the Marlborough and Jissen students in English.  Jissen students tried their best to understand what he said.

6時間目はリベラルアーツの高校2年のクラスです。全員がアメリカへの語学研修をしているので、積極的に話しかけていました。休み時間も英語での会話がとまりません。

(English Conversation Class / the 6^th period)

They are the 2^nd graders of Jissen Senior High School.  They will visit the U.S.A to study English, so they tried to speak in English to the NZ students as much as possible, even during the break time!

 

1月17日　19:50

新宿駅に無事に到着し、4人とも元気にホストファミリーと合流しました。
27日までの11日間、日本で色々な事を吸収してもらいたいと思います。

Exchange students from New Zealand arrived at Shinjuku station. All four students saw each family. We hope Marlborough students learn lots of things in eleven days.
