ニュージーランドの姉妹校であるマルボロボーイズカレッジとマルボロガールズカレッジから、4名の留学生と引率の先生が、1月19日から10日間実践学園の生徒たちと一緒に勉強しています。

留学生は授業で書道に挑戦したり、あたたかくておいしい「ほうとう」を作ったり、けん玉を教わったりと、日本での学校生活を楽しんでいます。週末にはディズニーランドにも行きました。

 今週は氷川神社に行ったり、茶道体験があったり、新しく教わった日本語を使う機会がたくさんあります。実践学園の生徒も意欲的で優しい性格のニュージーランド留学生と接することができてうれしく思っています。

Hello! This is the blog entry I wrote about the New Zeland exchange program:

 On January 19th, Jissen Gakuen was pleased to welcome four students and one teacher from our sister schools, Marlborough Boys and Girls Colleges, in Blenheim, New Zealand. Students Felix, Alex, Summer, and Harry as well as English language teacher Jo Robinson have adjusted to Tokyo with ease, despite the brisk winter temperature here—it’s summer in Blenheim at the moment!

In the first week of their journey the group has already practiced calligraphy, prepared a warm and delicious Hōtō soup, played Kendama, and received a small taste of school life in Japan. It’s no surprise that the student’s trip to Tokyo Disneyland this past Sunday was also a huge hit.    

Still on their agenda this coming week is a visit to Hikawa Shrine, participation in a traditional tea ceremony, and many opportunities to practice the new Japanese words they have learned. Jissen Gakuen is very lucky to be visited by such enthusiastic, kind individuals from Marlborough Boys and Girls Colleges.
